“Oh, Dad – I might be able to meet Ariana Grande today!”

That’s what my 14 year-old daughter, Jen, exclaimed to me on a January day in 2011.

Both Jen and her older sister, Kelly (then 19), were such big fans of Ariana. They enjoyed her in her role as “Cat” on the Nickelodeon show “Victorious”. Thought she was so charming and funny. But what they enjoyed even more was her singing. She wasn’t a pop star back then. She was a funny and talented supporting player on a comedy show. But my daughters watched Ariana’s homemade Youtube videos of her using her beautiful voice while singing other people’s songs. They showed the videos to my wife and I, and we were naturally impressed as well. We also watched “Victorious” with our girls. We knew Ariana Grande was destined for stardom.

On that day in 2011, Ariana tweeted that she was excited that she would be visiting the Titanic exhibit at the Las Vegas Luxor hotel.  We live 20 minutes outside of Vegas, so Jen practically begged me to drive over to the Luxor and wait outside the Titanic exhibit – for however long it took – so that she might see her idol.  Kelly wouldn’t be able to come because she was already at work. Of course I said “yes”. The one rule I had was that, if we saw Ariana, we had to wait until she finished enjoying the exhibit and was ready to leave. I’m not one for intruding on anyone, celebrity or not.

If Ariana were to tweet something like that today, there would likely be hundreds, maybe thousands, of fans waiting for her.  On that day, before she was a superstar, there was only Jen.

Jennifer O’Connor was an “Arianator” before it was even a term.

We waited on a bench near the Titanic exit for hours. I read a book while Jen kept her eyes on the gift shop.

“Oh gosh. There she is,” said Jen. She was actually shaking.

We watched from a distance as Ariana, her mom, and one or two other folks paid for their purchases and began to exit. First Ariana stopped to slip on a hoodie she bought in the shop. Then they moved toward the exit. Ariana spotted Jen smiling at her. Jen didn’t have to say anything.

“Hi,” smiled Ari, “Do you want a picture?”

“Yes, please. I’m such a fan of yours. I saw your tweet and hoped I could come down and meet you.”

“Aww, that’s so cool,” replied Ariana, “What’s your name? Check out my new hoodie! Do you like it?”

They chatted for a minute or two, and then posed for a photo. Ari threw up a peace sign. I took the picture.

“Can we do that again, please?” asked Ariana, “I think I probably looked terrible in that one.”

Of course I re-took the photo. Ariana never asked to see or approve of either picture. Jen deleted the first one, without being asked to do so. She did it out of common respect. As they said their goodbyes, Ariana hugged Jen, and Mrs. Joan Grande actually thanked us for coming to meet her daughter. It was a wonderful experience, and Jen has told the world about it for years.  Ariana Grande was one of the nicest celebrities we have ever encountered – and between originally living in New York, then Vegas, and our frequent trips to L.A., we have come across a lot of them.

Flash forward to August, 2014. Ariana is a superstar. But surely she is still the same sweet girl where it matters most – in her heart. Maybe, maybe not.

“PEPSI, MTV, AND VH1 ARE GIVING YOU THE CHANCE TO WIN AN AMAZING TRIP TO LOS ANGELES TO HANG WITH ARIANA AND WATCH HER PERFORM LIVE AT THIS YEAR’S (MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS).”

That’s how the contest was advertised.  Contestants had to produce some art and say why they loved Ariana so much.  They also had to follow and hashtag MTV, VH1, and Pepsi, label it as #ArianaNOW, and a few other things.

Jen spent days working on artwork of Ariana, wrote why she loved her, and amazingly, became a finalist. She was then interviewed via phone by an MTV rep for the second stage of the competition, and a few days later was announced as one of the two MTV winners (there was another winner through VH1). All winners were permitted to bring a guest to L.A., so naturally Jen chose her older sister (another Arianator).

The winners were placed at the Standard Hotel in Hollywood. They were told to get to the L.A. Forum in Inglewood for a 5 PM meeting with Ariana. They had to provide their own transportation. Jen and Kel arranged for a taxi to take them. They know that Los Angeles traffic is horrific so they left extra early from the hotel so that they wouldn’t miss the event that they were so excited for. Jen brought her winning artwork because she wanted to give it to her idol. She also wanted to remind Ariana of their prior meeting by the Titanic exhibit, when it was just Jen, Ariana, and that cute hoodie.

Jen and Kel got to the Forum early, as traffic wasn’t as bad as they had been warned. They were not allowed inside, or even permitted to wait in the safety of the parking lot. Fair enough – though probably not hospitable or decent, it was never promised that they’d be let in early. At least they knew they wouldn’t be late, and miss the chance to “hang” with Ari.

Turns out, they were never permitted in the building at all.  An MTV staff member in a big tent said “You can’t stay here. I don’t know where you can go, but it can’t be on the property. Also, this neighborhood is unsafe so be careful out there.”  At some point later, they were allowed into the parking lot, where all the winners and guests stayed, being shuffled from table to table as more “important” people appeared.  They waited till around 7:30, outdoors, for the meeting with Ariana. They were all hungry and cold, and despite a huge party barbeque going on in the tent beside their benches, they were offered nothing but a bottle of water the entire time.  Still, no problem – that’s life sometimes.  Some folks care, some don’t.

Here’s where it gets shady:

Jen and the other MTV winner (a young man of 16 who traveled across the entire country for this meeting) were interviewed on camera by MTV to be broadcast at a later date. Before the camera rolled they were told they would be asked what it was like meeting Ariana, and they had to PRETEND that they had already had said meeting – even though the interview was taped BEFORE Ariana ever appeared. They were told what to say, almost word for word. I know Jen feared that if she refused to do this, she would not meet Ariana (though she was not told that).

That, my friends, is known as a RED FLAG.

After the bogus interview, Ariana was set to appear. First, she did an on-camera interview. We don’t know what it was about, but I’m wondering if she also faked that the meeting had already taken place.  She then approached her fans without a smile – just an icy look as she toyed with her hair.  She was surrounded by 8 to 10 assistants.  Ariana stood by, with a blank stare, as the rules came fast and furiously from a staffer:

“You are not to present Ariana with any type of gift or anything. Give them to security and they will get them to her. You can take a selfie with her, but nothing else.”

Remember, these are not kids who interrupted Ariana during dinner at a restaurant, they are pre-screened contest winners who poured their hearts into their winning entries. The 16 year old boy had recorded a CD of beautiful violin cover versions of Ariana songs. It won the contest for him, and he wanted to present it to her.

It was taken away by security.

Ariana Grande, the superstar, then walked toward her three contest-winning fans.

She spent perhaps 15 seconds with each of them. That is not an exaggeration. They took an approved photo with her and that was it. No small talk. No banter. No “I can pretend I care a slight bit for you because you support me, you tweeted about me and my projects thousands of times, you buy my music, and you traveled so far, while paying for your own taxis, three days of meals, new outfits to meet me in, and federal and state taxes on this prize. Let me hear the one sentence you’ve always dreamed about telling me.”

Nothing. That was it. Don’t be fooled by the sweet smile in the photos below.  Ariana gave that grin for each picture, but then it was gone again. She never bothered to even ask anyone their name. She didn’t inquire as to who the contest winners were, as opposed to their guests, or what they created to win the right to meet her. Shocked by all this, Jen, whom Ari had been so kind to in 2011, walked up and said “Ari, here’s a photo we took together in Vegas at the Titanic…”

Ms. Grande glanced at the photo on Jen’s phone and said, “Let’s redo that picture.” She said nothing else, so Jen retook the photo. No peace sign from Ari this time.  Then Jen took out one of the drawings that won the contest for her.  Kelly snapped a photo of her smiling little sister giving Ariana the drawing.

“Delete those pictures, please” was all Ariana said.

“Can I just keep the one of my sister showing you the drawing?” asked Kel.

Ariana turned to her security and ordered, “Make sure she deleted those.”

Then, Ariana Grande walked away from her prize-winning fans without even saying goodbye.

That was it. That was HANG WITH ARIANA GRANDE, as the contest ads had screamed.

The MTV reps on scene seemed startled, but at a loss for what to do.

“Sometimes celebrities are like that,” was all they could muster, “So what are you guys doing for the rest of the day?”

CRYING would turn out to be the unspoken answer for most of them.

What did MTV, VH1, Pepsi, or Ariana Grande do to rectify this disaster? So far, nothing.

The weekend continued. On Sunday, the winners received passes to the MTV Video Music Awards (which was part of the prize all along). They were seated three rows from the back of the top balcony, possibly closer to the sun than the stage. I had told them to expect that, though. The fact that one of the winners was somehow awarded better seats than the others, seated among industry insiders, and given wristbands for he and his guest for free food and drink during the show is a mystery that was not specified as a prize, and was likely just another MTV oversight – along with letting all the contest winners out of the car that brought them to the show in a Sizzler parking lot several blocks from the Forum. They were told to hoof it to that same lot after the show, in their new outfits and shoes. How glamorous.

Do you think that MTV might have offered to place the winners up close in the pit in front of the stage with hundreds of radio contest winners? You know, to make up for the terrible meeting experience? Nope – they stuck ‘em up in the rafters.

Polite texts were sent to several MTV reps, and tweets to both Ariana and her mother, desperately asking for something to be done. Some type of re-do, or perhaps a meet n greet with some other, more fan-friendly, celebrity.

All were ignored.

It is understood that this was a meet n greet. Nobody expected Ariana Grande to become their best friend, or to even spend 15 minutes with the group of contest winners (though that wouldn’t seem to be an insane request), but 15 seconds each, followed by barked orders to delete photos, and an abrupt exit, doesn’t seem to really epitomize such an event either.

Jen and Kelly have encountered many celebrities, just passing on the street, that have spent more time with them than Ariana did with her contest winners.  These include Ashley Tisdale, Chris Kirkpatrick from *NSync, Brandon Flowers of the Killers, Brad Garrett, Nicolas Cage, Weird Al Yankovic, Ariana’s “Victorious” co-stars Leon Thomas and Mikey Reid, and many more. Every one of them kind and engaging.

Jen met Ari’s “Sam and Cat” co-star, Jennette McCurdy, at an event and was knocked out by how sweet she was. She asked Jen questions about herself and chatted about a variety of things. Jen tried to move along to give time to other fans, but Jennette actually called her back to talk more about her artwork.  Same with Miranda Cosgrove – a complete sweetheart.

In 2003, Jen and Kel received an opportunity to meet a superstar even more famous than Ariana Grande. They met Britney Spears. Wanna know how that went?

Britney invited our two girls into her dressing room at MTV’s TRL. She spent between 12 and 15 minutes with JUST THEM and her assistant Felicia.  Then Britney invited my wife and me to come in as well.  We all took a bunch of pictures, from any angle, while Britney chatted with the girls, looked through pics of their memorabilia, happily personally accepted a gift bag they had brought for her, answered any questions they had, gave them each a signed copy of her CD (which was released that day), and personally made sure that Jen and Kel could watch the live taping of TRL in the studio, even though they were both too young according to MTV policy.  Neither Britney, or any member of her staff, ever asked to see any of the pictures we took. In fact, her security guard remained OUTSIDE the entire time we spent with her.

That is a true superstar who loves her fans.

We did not expect Ms. Grande to be as gracious as Britney, but 15 seconds and a silent walk-off?

Jen also once won a contest to spend the afternoon with Disney star Ryan Ochoa (“iCarly”, “Pair of Kings”…) at Knotts Berry Farm. We expected that Ryan would be there for an hour, maybe two, and that would be fine.  He showed up with his dad and his brother and they stayed with Jen for EIGHT HOURS.  They wanted to stay longer but I insisted that they had done more than enough and I was actually embarrassed at their kindness.

Then they set our whole family up with front row seats to a taping of “Pair of Kings”. We met the entire cast after the show. They were all amazing and friendly.

Ryan Ochoa and his family have become our friends now. We see them whenever they are in Vegas, and sometimes when we are in L.A.

We did not expect Ms. Grande to become friends with any of the contest winners, or to spend eight hours with them, or give them any type of tickets for anything.

Some might say she was having a bad day.  But what about the day after, and the day after that? The fans were all still in Hollywood, awaiting the VMAs.  All involved knew that very well. Could Ariana have met them again? Could she have just sent them a personal tweet, or had a letter driven to the hotel?  A signed CD? Could she have sent out a general tweet about meeting some huge fans?

None of that has happened.  The contest winners have been completely ignored.

Nobody expected Ariana Grande to spend a whole hour with them, or give them her phone number, or even follow them on Twitter.

But 15 seconds and a silent walk-off?

We’re waiting to see if Ariana, her mom, MTV, VH1, or Pepsi will do anything at all to rectify the injustice done to these disappointed fans and their guests.  It’s a terrible thing to be treated that way by your idol.

They deserve something.  Maybe five minutes with a celebrity who cares.

Say “Hi” – of course we’ll follow back on Twitter:

    britney is such a sweetheart

    • Sharon August 27, 2014 at 3:35 am #

NOT shocking at all; this little girl really thinks her sinus sounding voice is the NEW mariah??? Mariah would never do that to her lambs. This little girl has been pumped up and she think she a diva. Don’t like her voice or her mariah imitation. BRITNEY whom I met was a sweetheart. What this siky white stalker should have done is slapped the hellz out of her and grabbed her weave ponytail off

      • Kate August 27, 2014 at 9:13 am #

First off mariah is the diva so dont try to say ariana is one. Mariah is actually very rude she shades people so much its become a sport for her. I bet you can search on google stories of mariah being mean to fans and pretty much anyone else. I have met ariana and so have multiple people that i know and she was nothing but sweet and kind to everyone of us and didnt have a problem with taking a picture with any of us.

      • Charlie September 8, 2014 at 2:23 pm #

        To Kate:

Mariah shades other celebrities who come for her first. All of the shade she throws is literally just her standing up for herself against other celebrities.

When it comes to her fans, Mariah is always sweet. I mean, she and Jimmy Fallon did a thing where they invited a bunch of her fans to listen to her new song, and then she surprised them by performing it for them herself! She then talked to them and everything, and even did a whole impromptu performance for them (none of it was rehearsed, and it was all her improvising). Also, after a day of working, she got in her car to go home, but then a fan ran up to talk to her. She opened the window and they had a whole discussion and took pictures and stuff.

  3. Perry August 26, 2014 at 11:04 am #

Well, it’s not totally Ariana’s fault, it’s mostly because of bad event planning and management (how could these people get hired?). I agree that Ariana could’ve done something better, but maybe like you said, she had a bad day. But I doubt she could actually do something like meeting them again because her schedule is so packed and like any other star, she could not aware of everything around her.

    • franceselizabethblog August 27, 2014 at 12:39 pm #

You’re absolutely right, it is the staff and company’s fault. The poor planning caused the stress on both parties.

      • Gaelle desir August 27, 2014 at 8:46 pm #

I don’t agree because even if it was the staff and company’ s fault she could at least pretend, celebrities have done it all the time, she could fake the smile but she couldn’t pretend to be happy for all their support. Saff and company’ s fault or not they did not force her to act like that, just a few minutes pretending that everything was great for her wouldn’t kill her it would just give those fans more joy for meeting her and help them forget the the bad inhospitable they gave them.

      • Brianna Torres August 29, 2014 at 5:07 pm #

        Gaelle is so right!!!

    • Chick September 9, 2014 at 4:32 pm #

IF ROBIN WILLIAMS CAN SMILE THROUGH DEPRESSION AND SUICIDAL THOUGHTS FOR YEARS, ARIANA CAN SMILE THROUGH BAD PLANNING

      • ana banana September 16, 2014 at 12:21 pm #

Really…. I don’t think this is a logical comparison. Seeing the end result.

  4. Brittney August 26, 2014 at 11:47 am #

It’s sad when celebrities don’t live up to those expectations. I feel so sad for your daughter. I’ve learned it’s one thing to admire someone’s talent, and another to look up to them for the kind of person they are. Sounds like maybe Arianna is the former.

  5. Rath August 26, 2014 at 11:53 am #

I saw this on a Britney fan site (exhale) and they said how Britney was amazing and how ariana was icy. I found this astonishing, and people have always said how she must be such a sweet girl because she seems nice, never knew see was this cold hearted. 15 sec? That’s horrible and people should hear about this outrage and your daughter and the other winners have to get an apology and something else, concert tickets, a redo? Something needs to be done.

    • JC August 26, 2014 at 1:36 pm #

I’ve heard negative things about Ariana before. Britney and Kesha seem to be the truly nice celebrities.

    • Chris August 26, 2014 at 4:25 pm #

Britney is still such a sweetheart.Just a few days ago in Vegas during a meet & geet a fan gave her a letter in which he wrote how much her music helped him when he was having a bad phase in his life, after a couple of minutes when all the fans were leaving,Britney’s security stopped him & asked for his address because Britney loved what he wrote to her & wanted to reply.

    • Abiola Young X Oretade August 26, 2014 at 6:13 pm #

outrage???? look people celeb or not humans are humans some are nice some arent the kindest, some stress some calm nobody told jen to expect ariana to be a sweetheart. if ya feel some type of way about it, dont listen to her music

  6. L.M.S. (@GypsyHeartMark) August 26, 2014 at 12:13 pm #

First: You don’t know how Mtv prepped Ariana to act at this event.
Second: She could have just been in a really bad mood because of God knows what.
Third: I’ve seen actual footage of Ariana interacting with fans outside of her hotel & other places. She is always nice even when she looks like she doesn’t want to be bothered.
Fourth: There are people with this attitude who hasn’t had a fraction of the success Ariana has had. What is their excuse?
Even if she’s like this in real life (which I’m sure she isn’t) doesn’t mean she shouldn’t have the attention & success she has. She doesn’t owe anyone anything.

    • Kellz August 26, 2014 at 3:28 pm #

YAASSS! You better stan for your 15 yo, always wearing the same damn hairstyle queen! YASS stan for fa ha! Forget the people who paid $$$ to see ha!

        lmao i love this comment

      • kate August 27, 2014 at 10:28 pm #

        LMFAO 😂😂

    • BionicMe August 26, 2014 at 5:02 pm #

Actually she does. She owes her fans her fame. If she didn’t have fans she’ll be a nobody singing in her basement.

Ridiculous that you think entertainers don’t owe anything. She is a rude brat. People make you and they break you.

      • DMoney August 28, 2014 at 10:17 pm #

I wish someone would break her right about now! Talent is only such when it sets you apart from the majority, and means nothing when that majority stops supporting that talent….Ariana, you may wanna write that one down…

    • Childish August 27, 2014 at 12:49 am #

First. If I’m a fan, then I am the reason you are as successful as you are. Without fans, an artist is worthless.
Second, if I win a contest, traveled miles to see you, and came out of pocket for some expenses….i could care less about you having a bad day or how you were prepped. Put your game face on, and not be sn ASS to the people who buy your music snd watch your shows..It’s part of your job
Third, it doesn’t matter how you’ve observed Ariana interact with others at any time. This particular individual is specifically referring to how she interacted with his daughter and the other winners. It’s unacceptable.

      • L.M.S. (@GypsyHeartMark) August 27, 2014 at 4:51 pm #

I will stan for Ariana until she gives me a reason not to (which she hasn’t). Please don’t be bitter because she is on top, making money, is beyond beautiful & talented, & is happy with who she is at the moment. Can you say the same about yourself? People should spend less time criticizing her personal life & personality & spend more time on following their own dreams & finding success like she has.
Her job is to entertain you. Not to hug you, take pictures with you, or sign things for you while you act like a complete nutjob by freaking out, stuttering, & crying. Plus it does seem peculiar that this family have won so many contest & have met so many celebrities. It sounds like an obsession to me. It certainly isn’t healthy because celebrities aren’t that important anyway. You’re a dumbass to spend an absurd amount of money to have a 5 minute encounter with a celebrity. If you enter for a contest please make sure that you aren’t spending that much money for something that isn’t even that important. And with this family’s luck they’d probably have another chance at something like this, so essentially it isn’t a once in a lifetime experience for them.
By the way, true artist is never worthless. They do what they do because they love it & making money off of their art is a byproduct. Most of you must not be aware that Ariana’s family had money before the fame. Her mom is a CEO of some company, so no she wouldn’t be in the basement making music; she’d probably be in a home studio with top of the line equipment.
You chose to become a fan on your own accord. You can easily chose to not be a fan anymore. To be honest, her label, managers, & talent are the reasons she is famous. The fans aid in the process, but the brains behind the operation is not us (the fans).
Even if she is a bitch (which I’m sure she isn’t); what’s wrong with that? There are probably thousands who act the same way. Why is she held to a higher standard than the girl down the street who probably does the same thing on a daily basis? Everyone isn’t nice nor does everyone need to be. Do we live in a perfect world? Utopia? Is it all peace, harmony, rainbows, & smiles all the time? The world would be super boring if it was.
Like I said: she doesn’t owe anyone anything. Additionally, we don’t owe her anything either. She didn’t ask for our support or money. We gave it to her willingly. She wasn’t homeless before so don’t act like if all this went away tomorrow she would be lost. She would be fine & at least have some normalcy back in her life.
Listen to her song “You Don’t Know Me” it’s one for the haters.

      • Kate September 26, 2014 at 5:08 pm #

Um nobody’s jealous here, if we wanted to be an anorexic snob then why wouldn’t we be one now? I don’t care if Ariana’s having a ‘bad day’, she needs to suck it up like everyone else on earth and try to be nice for fans who are not only the reason she is so popular, but worked their butts off for days trying to produce some wonderful art to show how much they loved her. She should be grateful that anyone would be willing to do this for her, let alone thousands of fans who love her. Like, seriously, girl needs some manners.

    • Tim (@Phoenetic) August 27, 2014 at 7:50 am #

      “She doesn’t owe anyone anything”.

You know, apart from the fact that they won a price that they didn’t get. They put in work to “Hang with Ariana”, and that didn’t exactly happen.

    • Kelly August 27, 2014 at 12:20 pm #

She doesn’t owe anyone anything? How about the fact that without the fans she wouldn’t even have a career. Don’t get me wrong I love her music but that doesn’t mean she’s always the nicest person. I tried to get a picture with her at her recording company, because my dad works there and she turned me down.

    • whatever August 27, 2014 at 6:24 pm #

hahahahhhaha you’re so funny, and such a looser.

    • Minnie August 27, 2014 at 8:23 pm #

      Love your reply… So true

    • Molly August 29, 2014 at 3:24 pm #

You’re kidding. There’s bad day and then there’s downright RUDE. It does not take much effort to say, “Hi, thank you for coming. Sorry I’m having kind of a weird day. I’m not trying to be rude.” Like, I don’t think anyone would really WANT to go to meet and greets all the time- I fully get that it’s tiring, but these fans put food on her table and BMW’s in her driveway. If she’s upset about something, she should not be taking it out on these fans. She’s like 21, not 13. She can suck it up.

      • redstainedhummingbird September 9, 2014 at 3:08 am #

        Respect.

    • redstainedhummingbird September 9, 2014 at 3:06 am #

      Your a douche.

    • Jade Harley September 10, 2014 at 2:51 pm #

      1. If MTV told her to act that way, there’s absolutely no reason for the reps to have been surprised when she walked off.
      2. I dunno about you, but no matter how shitty my day was, I would’ve been pretty fucking excited to meet people who support me and love me enough to draw art of me and redo my songs with just a violin. Even if she really didn’t feel like being happy or cheery (or even PRETENDING to be), she could’ve scheduled another meet and greet to make up for the way she acted the first time. It doesn’t matter if she was upset, it was still rude.
      3. Since you seem to like speculation without evidence, did it ever occur to you that she was acting nice for the camera? And why would her being nice to those fans invalidate how poorly she acted in a LOT of other situations?
      4. No one even said you get a pass from acting rude if you aren’t popular. Either way, this kind of argument is like saying “well, yeah, Hitler was racist to the Jews, but so were a lot of other people who weren’t in office. What’s their excuse?” Please, if you’re gonna whiteknight, actually put some effort into it.
“Even if she’s like this in real life”
…She IS like this in reality. By the way you worded point #4, even you obviously acknowledged that. It’s definitely a stretch to say she’s like this 24/7 based on an exchange that was likely less than 5 minutes, but you literally insinuated she IS like this, then immediately said she probably isn’t. Contradictions make an argument weak, dude.
      “She doesn’t owe anyone anything.”
Her fans are literally the reason she’s famous. She owes them her fucking fame. No, this does not mean she must be nice to everyone and a perfect angel, but when people help you get to the top, the least you could do is hang out with some of them for a couple of minutes and be friendly.

      • Maddy16 September 19, 2014 at 5:13 pm #

So true! I also play the violin(: I love Ariana Grande so much & I listen to her songs all the time!. It might b the MTV people also. Its like that show on victorious( I know this seems a little childish but, I’m saying it anyway), Tori Vega the main character won a contest for a singing video. When she met the people, they told her how to act & how to dress. So all in all mayb that’s why she was rude?. I’m still an Arianator!.

    • Irene September 10, 2014 at 3:55 pm #

Actually, yes she does owe something to her fans, because, without their support, she wouldn’t have such a successful career. Fans are the ones who pay to buy her music, concert tickets, merchandise, and watch her shows, so regardless of how talented she is or how much publicity she gets, she wouldn’t be successful if no one was supporting her.

    • Kora Zinger September 11, 2014 at 10:49 am #

YES she DOES owe a lot of things. Her celebrity status is only hinging on the devotion of her fans and she owes them a little respect. More importantly, she owes to deliver on her own promise. And it does not matter whether the promise came from her or in her name, from the managers. It was in her name and she has an obligation to do what was promised in her name. Bad mood- give me a break! Once you take a public role, you keep you your bad moods to your bad self.

    • Dianna September 11, 2014 at 12:22 pm #

Yes, she owes it to all her fans and supporters because without them she’d be nothing.

    • dama September 26, 2014 at 6:37 am #

Actually she DOES owe these young fans a lot! She wouldn’t be the ‘diva’ she is today without the fans that followed her on YouTube, went to local festivals, tweeted about her, bought her music – the list goes on! When you’re in the spotlight and you are part of events that involve meeting and greeting your fans, like it or not, you suck it up and do it, no matter what kind of day you are having. I’m tired of ‘stars’ treating people as if they are lucky to be breathing the same air as they are and don’t feel the need to be civil, respectful and downright human. Unfortunately, yes, young fans idolize these people and put them on pedestals that nobody can live up to most likely. But a little kindness, a few words and respect go a long way to make a fan happy.

  7. Shocked August 26, 2014 at 12:14 pm #

Wow! That’s really shady… but that’s show business… Kudos to Britney!

It’s a shame people can change. It does take away from the music, doesn’t it?

  9. Kendell N August 26, 2014 at 12:17 pm #

Her costars did not get along with her (victoria justice and jeanette mccurdy). People who have worked with her in the music industry or people who are in the industry say she is the rudest person. There is this guy from a band called the cab named Alexander DeLeon who said she was stuck up and rude. that tweet is on twitter. search for it. I can’t defend Ari anymore. I like her music but the evidence of her being rude mounts with each year.

  10. Nicole August 26, 2014 at 12:33 pm #

You should consider writing in to the Wendy Williams Show for their “Fan Out” segment. Wendy reads the viewers experience with the celebrity along with a photo of their shared moment with the fan

  11. mel August 26, 2014 at 12:34 pm #

This is stupid, they gave ariana a picture of her and her grandfather, he died a month ago and she loved him so much, she walked away because she was going to cry.

    • Amanda August 28, 2014 at 12:04 pm #

That explains for her walking away suddenly but that doesn’t explain why she was so rude before that. And to ask the fan to delete the pictures? It’s just plain rude! I used to like Ariana and always defend her but this is the last straw for me.

    • tori j. September 10, 2014 at 8:01 pm #

why would they give her a pic of her and her grandpa?

      • deezus888 September 21, 2014 at 8:23 am #

        Seriously. That’s just creepy.

    • shanandcrew September 19, 2014 at 9:14 pm #

So why did she approach the winners unsmiling and rude before even she supposedly was overcome with emotion?

  12. Holly May August 26, 2014 at 12:47 pm #

Wow! Your family wins a ton of contests! How does that happen? Good for you guys though really!
Its really sad what stardom does to some people. I had no idea Ariana was like that! – or Brit for that matter!

    IN GODNEY WE TRUST

  15. Kyle August 26, 2014 at 1:04 pm #

This is so interesting and I absolutely believe every bit of this experience. I was an VH1/MTV intern years ago (2006) and in 2009 started my own pop culture magazine and worked with MTV a couple times. A lot of these people that work in these companies/fields think that they *need* to act one way and don’t think for themselves. Offer a bottle of water or a seat – they don’t think that’s what they’re supposed to do, so they don’t. Even though its a simple act of compassion. A lot of these up and coming stars get confused with the same simple process and completely lose themselves. It doesn’t matter how MTV prepped her or anyone for a meet and greet – it’s how she chooses to respond that matters. She has a choice. Some of these commentators are going to rip you to shreds, but I hear you and stand by what you have to say.

    • Michele Michalec August 29, 2014 at 6:00 am #

You are so right! to me its amazing that anyone would try to make excuses for her actions. I am sure fame has a lot to do with it. We praise these people like there “Gods.” Its not about a bad day people and or Grandfather! that’s just an excuse. She was flat out rude and she made that choice. I have read one to many times that she her self says she has a dark side!! I agree with her! The hair is fake and so is that smile.

  16. michael August 26, 2014 at 1:07 pm #

Sir, I know this was a very sad thing for your daughters to experience, and I’m truly sorry that it even needed to happen but I think the whole situation was a bit misunderstood. Ariana has seen this and replied to another fan on what was truly going through her mind at the time. Really hope it makes you and/or your daughters see a different side on what happened. Again, I’m truly sorry that this all even needed to happen. https://twitter.com/grandeduet/status/504354689090342912

    • julia August 26, 2014 at 2:06 pm #

How does that explain Ariana turning to her security and demanding that they delete the picture?

    • Dustin Corey Bumgarner August 26, 2014 at 9:46 pm #

Yes, we all know the story of Grandpa Grande. It is a devastating time. But that is no excuse whatsoever to the way Ari acted towards the contest winners, and has nothing to do with the way MTV and all the other sponsors handled the situation. You don’t just act nasty and mean to a fan for them giving out a memoir picture. Now, granted, there was no way to postpone the VMAs, and there wasn’t much time for her to heal, but still, acting the way she did, when the fans did nothing but SUPPORT her (which was the whole reason behind the contest in the first place) and the whole event treating the contest winners like nothing big was happening was uncalled for.

  17. katelovexox August 26, 2014 at 1:34 pm #

omg!!!!!! thank you for this. im so sorry for the negative experience but queen britney tho!! much better than ariana. oh well </3

  18. Julia August 26, 2014 at 1:34 pm #

I do believe that although it is not an excuse, this could’ve been a very stressful day/event for Ariana. I met her in June 2013 at one of her brothers musicals in Allentown, PA. There were only about 15 fans there despite her tweeting about going. She talked with every single person there for over 5 minutes each, and discussed her music etc with the group. I spent over half an hour with her before and after the show. She was nothing but sweet to all of this and I am doubting that she has changed so much in only a year. I am hoping that the unorginized event is at blame, or it could’ve just been a very bad day for Ariana. Still, I am sorry about the meet and greet with your daughters.

    • BionicMe August 26, 2014 at 5:08 pm #

Ironically I’ve seen her there. My daughter went to the same school as her brother. She was a total snob.

    • daniela C. August 28, 2014 at 6:22 am #

That was then but now.. She’s changed. She is not the sweet girl down to earth she used to be, sadly. Now she’s a super famous successful celebrity so.. She’s different now, you know?…

  19. Kalvin P August 26, 2014 at 1:43 pm #

Glad to know she’s fake. It has been obvious that she changed so much within a span of 3 years. These labels, managers, etc. now have a “pet” they can tell what to do and what not to do. Happy that your daughter and daughter’s friend got to meet these other young adult actors/actresses and they were nice. Not all of them let fame get to their head.

  20. kb August 26, 2014 at 2:41 pm #

so tired of the manipulative fake spoiled bitch ugh ive seen pass her bull the first time ive ever watched her video. She was trying to live up to the expectation of cat to try and get famous now she’s just copying everyone else trying to be like miley and etc.everyone hates her #teamvictoriajustice

  21. Matt August 26, 2014 at 3:10 pm #

If you believe a word of this obnoxious self absorbed rant you’re absolutely stupid

    • Annie August 27, 2014 at 4:19 pm #

Well, which rant would you like to read instead? The latest: Jennette, who had personally known Ariana, and had few choice words to say about her. A few months back Jai, who confessed Ariana cheated on him multiple times, in which his brother co-sign him. Last year when Ariana publically blamed Victoria for the cancelation of Victorious later to be proved false by Nickelodeon themselves. Or perhaps my favorite and the oldest: In 2011 When The cabs lead singer Alexander Deleon tweeted that Ariana was the most stuck up person in the industry that he has EVER met, reason why is because he witnessed her being……(wait for it)…. Horrid to a fan (how ironic). Google is your friend, this ain’t the first time I’ve heard not so pleasant meetings about her and it’s certainly not the last.

      • ana banana September 16, 2014 at 12:25 pm #

This is awesome. Research and knowledge at it’s best.

  22. Kristi August 26, 2014 at 3:16 pm #

I can’t say I’m too shocked. I’ve seen the way she’s constantly in and out of relationships, both dating relationships and friendships. A lot of people have been coming out about her, yet they all only get death threats in return. Ariana never even tries to tell those people sending death threats to stop doing it. It’s truly saddening. I also used to be a big fan of Ariana, but in the past year, I’ve seen how she’s become. I’m a longtime McCurdian, (Jennette’s mega fans) and I can’t help but feel disappointed in how many death threats she’s been getting from coming out and explaining how Ariana made her feel and reasons why their friendship ended. I am so sad about what happened to your daughters, as no one deserves to be treated like that by their idol. Even if what she “said” was true about her grandfather, she had no right to ask your daughter to delete the pictures. She could’ve tied harder to contact your daughters. This article is extremely well written and I hope your daughters can recover from this, because I know I would be personally crushed if it happened to me.

    • imteal September 21, 2014 at 10:50 am #

Excuse me? She had no right to dask his daughter to delete the pictures?! What if someone were to make a picture of you that you didn’t like, would you say “ooh I have no right to ask them to delete my picture” and you’ve would just let them have it? It’s a picture with HER in it, if she doesn’t like it she’s fully rightful to ask his daughter to delete that picture.

  23. safafariix3 August 26, 2014 at 4:06 pm #

Britney still has that great hospitability charm. She recently flew out a dying patient and his entire family as his “one last wish” request, and apparently treated him like a superstar during his stay. I know the Meet and Greet’s at Britney’s show are supposed to be cut short with similar rules as were started for Ariana (no gifts, etc.), but I mean, this type of gesture from Britney still shows that she’s still that sweet gal. Just some rules have to be rules I guess.

  24. aw.s August 26, 2014 at 4:36 pm #

Hey, I’m sorry about this experience but there is always a good thing to take out of this: celebrities are not that important. I understand your daughter is still young and it’s completely normal that she feels like this about her idol.

Celebrities are always going to care abouth themselves, about their public image over anything. Over their fans, their followers or the people surrounding them, because FAME is such a lie, it’s poisoning.

Maybe you don’t see this now, because I totally understand that you want your daughter to be happy, but she will learn a very good lesson that will be very valueble in this life. Celebrities don’t care. People dissapoint.

It’s not that important to meet an idol, in fact it’s better never to meet them so you don’t get to know how they really are. I’ve worked with many famous people, and I can’t tell you, this comes and goes, as they do. Once people reach certain status, they become completely obsessed to maintain it.

Your daughter’s happiness is so much more important than this, I’m sure she will take the best of this experience. Good luck!

  25. Ejay Hernandez August 26, 2014 at 4:55 pm #

I highly doubt Ariana is rude to fans. https://vine.co/v/Mlv6ZraiL3w

  26. Dustin Corey Bumgarner August 26, 2014 at 6:38 pm #

It is a crying shame that this change of personality had occurred. I’ve heard from several people that Ariana isn’t all who the media portrays her to be. People have told me she’s VERY rude, especially to guy fans. And this story is just another experience that confirms my theory. Some celebs let fame get to their heads and so they act snooty for no obvious reason at all. In the entertainment industry, word gets around quickly. So if this blog post is shared on a site like TMZ or E! or another popular tabloid site, maybe something would be done.

  27. Caitlyn August 26, 2014 at 8:12 pm #

Britney has always been a sweetheart. She visits sick fans all the time and most of the time people don’t know about it until years later when the families want to talk about it.

  28. pinkperfume August 26, 2014 at 8:27 pm #

I too, a fan of Ariana since Victorious, noticed her changing. I met her on August 14th 2013. I went for my 15th birthday, flying from nc to new york to see her in concert. Then I paid $150 for a PERSONAL meet and greet as well as $800 from flying, when last minute, they said my picture with ariana had to be with five other strangers. I had to get sent in, take the picture, then leave. I didn’t get to hug her, I didn’t get to talk to her. When I handed her a note, all she said was thank you. And that was that .

  29. Ty August 26, 2014 at 8:28 pm #

My mom would slap the shit out of me if I ever acted that way, no matter how famous I got or how much money I made.

    • Kimy September 21, 2014 at 7:12 pm #

      Same!

  30. April August 26, 2014 at 8:38 pm #

I’m so sorry that things happened this way. :'( Jen is a total sweetheart who didn’t deserve to be treated poorly! There is no excuse for a person to treat another person as less-than, celeb or not. It’s truly unfortunate that Ariana has changed for the worst over the years. Fan of Ari’s or not, I’m sure that all of us can put ourselves in Jen’s shoes and would be heartbroken if we went through this with someone we support. I hope that people will really think about who they choose to support after reading this. Kudos to entertainers who take the time to value their fans and be genuinelly kind. Even if Ariana had a “bad day” or the event was unorganized she could have apologized even by tweet or the organizers could have made it up to them in the time they were in LA. I hope that you will get an apology in the future Jen. Don’t let the haters or doubters get you down. You know the truth and you’re a good person, that’s what matters. Keep focusing on the people who you enjoy supporting that support you back. <3

  31. Lorena August 26, 2014 at 11:58 pm #

Yeah I agree with this, she is so far one of the rudest little prick, together with Demi Lovato and some of the glee stars. I would have added among the lists Shia la beouf , Seth Rogen , Kirsten Stewart and Hale Berry but, they weren’t rude, they just seemed uncomfortable but still maintain to be engaging.

The nicest and most decent so far, is One Direction mostly the three of them Harry, Niall, and Liam, Johnny Depp, I also agree with Britney Spears she was welcoming and warm even with a very short encounter. Also, celebrities that are sweet was Lady Gaga, Tyler Posey, Dylan O’brien, Freddie Prinze and Neil Patrick Harris and Paris Hilton.

    • Karla August 28, 2014 at 12:01 am #

is funny you actually mentioned Demi, she has fame to be sweet and humble but in my country she has the worst fame, when she come, she is always around with 10 bodyguards on every event, she cancel events with fans who traveled hundred of miles and waste their money, sleeping in the street since 4am, she denied a hug to a fan in front of 50 reporters, she come late to conference press, she is a horrible diva.

      And Lea Michele is worst.

  32. 2ne1doll August 27, 2014 at 12:06 am #

That’s a shame. Maybe fame really does get in your head at some point.. :( but that meeting with other stars, WOW!!! Wish I live in Vegas too! :D

  33. Steph August 27, 2014 at 1:20 am #

wow your daughters are so lucky to have met so many famous people!! it makes me sad knowing ariana isn’t as sweet as they make her out to be :( about 2 years ago i met ryan ochoa at disneyland and he was an absolute sweetheart! we all asked for a big group picture and he smiled and talked to us even though he was with some friends and family. it’s terrible when celebs don’t appreciate their fans.

  34. Chris August 27, 2014 at 5:06 am #

For those of you defending Ariana, shame on you idiots. None of how she was prepped or how MTV or anyone else has any factor in how she chose to act….like a stuck up little princess who is too good for the fans that gave her a career.

  35. Kate August 27, 2014 at 9:08 am #

Wow i guess either none of this is true or she was having a bad day or mtv gave her strict rules.. I have met ari once and she was extremely nice and kind she didnt have a problem with taking any pictures also i have met multiple other people who have also meet ariana and have had the same expierence as i did. She is VERY nice and she always has been. Seems peculiar how many contests your kids have won also……

I personally think you should introduce your daughters to fifth harmony. No matter how how tired or sick they are, no matter how much they’re in a hurry, they will always stop to hug and take pictures and make small talk. They make sure they get to know their fans individually and they shower you with love even if it was just a hurried 60 second m&g.

    • Karla August 28, 2014 at 12:06 am #

Fifth Harmony maybe bc they are still unknown but they are the MOST HUMBLE and PEOPLE EVER, i hope fame dont change them

  37. cambrie August 27, 2014 at 10:08 am #

What’s the big deal? Your kids seem spoiled rotten. I’m sure they will live and so will you. How many people can even go to the vma? Or spend a second with a celeb? Not many. I would have been happy just to have been at the vma. For Christ’s sake, you’ve met Britney and so many more. What else do you and your kids need? Seems like an obsession to me. You wrote this just thinking her staff will see this so your kids can meet ariana again and spend “5 minutes” with her so you and them can get what they want. Probably used to that. This article just creeped me out. She is far more famous than she was before. People are weird as shit man.

    • Melanie August 27, 2014 at 12:29 pm #

Thats not the point. They wanted to meet their idol. They obviously spent ages trying to win those tickets. She could of at least stayed for a minute. His kids are clearly not spoiled. Airana is the spoiled one. If I spent hours trying to win a ‘Hang out’ session with one of my idols and they simply brushed me off and were extremely rude to me, I would be furious!

    • Maura August 28, 2014 at 5:53 pm #

Wow. You think that they’re spoiled rotten for winning contests and meeting various celebrities? Frankly, you sound like an utter shithead. Sorry if the vulgarity hurts, but I’ve got to call it as I see it. Seems to me like you sound like you’re part of Ariana’s posse/entourage, and you heard about the ‘hoopla’, came over here and decided to defend your prissy little princess. But we can see through it, friend, so save your breath.

    • Stephanie August 29, 2014 at 9:49 am #

      100% agree, cambrie

    • shanandcrew September 19, 2014 at 9:26 pm #

Exactly, how did you come to the conclusion his kids are spoiled?!?
They entered a contest, worked diligently and used their creativity to accomplish a goal of winning contest to meet someone they admired.
Ariana was neither gracious or appreciative.

  38. Van August 27, 2014 at 10:59 am #

Any one defending her: get real. Clearly this family absolutely adored Ariana so I’m sure they would never make up a lie.

I’m sorry your girls had to experience this disappointment. How she was “prepped” for the meet or if she was having a “bad day” is NOT a valid excuse to her snobby and unladylike behaviour. This is her JOB. When I’m having a bad day at my job I do not use that as an excuse to treat others like they’re beneath me.

That being said… most celebrities do think they are above us and most definitely will act that way because WE allow them too. We put these people on pedestals, shower them with praise and gifts (90% of which they throw away, come on guys… Ariana isn’t going to keep your letter/gift/drawing etc. when she receives hundreds daily. I mean… she didn’t even care enough to have you hand them to her yourself.) that make their head bigger and bigger. And for what reason? Because they give us entertainment from our mundane lives? Because they distract us from today’s failing society? Let’s teach our kids to idolize people for bravery and intelligence instead of “talent” and beauty. Let’s STOP MAKING STUPID PEOPLE FAMOUS.

    • imteal September 21, 2014 at 11:07 am #

Actually, it’s not her job to be nice to people. Like someone else in the comment section said before, it’s her job to entertain people and that’s what she does at her concerts and by making her albums, which she works super hard on by the way. She doesn’t make any money through those meet and greets, and she has to meet so many people every day and be nice 24/7 according to people like you but the truth is that she DOESN’T. She does not owe her fans anything. She loves to sing and she’s always saying how grateful she is for everything. If one day she isn’t up for the fake smiles and everything that’s her right. It’s her life.

  39. Ken Clark (@arcadiagator) August 27, 2014 at 11:42 am #

Apparently your Jen got treated the same way that Jen(nette) McCurdy did. When Ariana said that she should be treated equally as Jennette I knew something was up. I also blame Nick who did what Ari wanted and treated Jennette like crap. Miranda, who is also a superstar is not like that. Jennette isn’t either. Fame has gone to her(Ari’s) head. I have met celebs much bigger than either Ari or Jennette and have always been treated with respect. These were TV and sports stars. Hopefully, the relationship between Dan and Jennette can be mended. I have my doubts about Ari and Jennette. For those who say that Victoria and Ari are close, Jennette attended Victoria’s birthday party, Ari did not. The only thing negative I can say about Jennette is that she should have sucked it up and finished the 40 episodes. I loved Jennette’s new web series.

  40. Ken Clark (@arcadiagator) August 27, 2014 at 11:49 am #

A celebrity can overrule rules that the promoters set. When attending a meeting with Florida coach Will Muschamp, we were told there would be no picture only autographs. I was with a Special Olympics athlete, when the athlete was introduced to Muschamp, he looked me straight in the eye and said, “I’ll bet that he would like a picture with me, wouldn’t he?” Of course, I said yes. He got up went to the end of the table and I took the picture. Before Muschamp sat down, I asked if I could take one as coach to coach. He agreed and that picture was taken. These were the only pictures taken that night but the celebrity overruled. Ari could have overruled.

  41. Melanie August 27, 2014 at 12:24 pm #

Doesn’t even surprise me to be honest.

  42. franceselizabethblog August 27, 2014 at 12:58 pm #

MTV staff or whoever held that contest sucked, first of all. Poorly planned on both sides of the parties. I’m sorry your daughters had to go through all that. And honestly, Ariana should known better, she acted like she’s the only person in the world suffering…. I mean I still hear good things about Britney up until this day. Despite all the bad things went through and had to deal with publicly she made sure to put a smile on her face when meeting fans. My uncle and his wife met Britney at an LA cafe during her “dark days” and she was still kind enough to chat with them for 10min, give them hugs and thanking them for their support. My uncle said he could tell britney was going through rough things by her appearance yet Britney made sure to give them a smile and hug. My uncle didn’t ask for a photo with her out of respect for Britney at that time. I’m sorry Ariana lost her grandfather but it is no excuse to act the way she did. God forbid the fans that she meets could have recently lost both parents, are dying of illness, could have been rape victims or worse and she acts like that because she is suffering emotionally. I don’t blame her 100% but I also blame the company who set up that unorganized and unpleasant contest package. I don’t think you should expect them to apologize or give something back. It should come out the kindness of the heart.

  43. Perrie August 27, 2014 at 1:53 pm #

I can totally believe this. I like Ariana on Victorious, but every since she has been on her open her true personality has show and i hate it. Yes, she does have an amazing voice, but that means nothing with a terrible, stuck up personality like she portrayed in that meet and greet. This makes me not like her even more. She would be no where with fans support and she needs to realize that or her career will be ruined. Im so sorry to hear about your experience. I would be pissed off also if i had an experience like that with my idol, i prolly would of told the brat off. Again, sad to hear she is like that but hey lets them see her true colors.

  44. Fairuh Kemeeluh August 27, 2014 at 1:53 pm #

Ariana can’t be that stupid and just leave your daughters like that. She probably knew that someone was going to post about how rude she is.

  45. Karla August 27, 2014 at 5:27 pm #

HOLY CRAP Im still on shock

I LOOOOOOOOOVE BRITNEY SEARS SO MUCH but her M&G sometimes she is so cold, i think Britney is tired of HUGE fame

  46. Samantha Annis August 27, 2014 at 6:54 pm #

I think that sometimes celebrities have to be cold because it’s too much pressure for them. I mean, Ariana could not have known what those poor contest winners went through. She might not have had any idea they waited all day. It’s hard to say. I do agree that once she saw the tweets and the story that she should have spoke up, but what can you do?

  47. John Smith August 27, 2014 at 7:32 pm #

Did you get a photo of Ariana Grande?

  48. Massie Block August 27, 2014 at 8:33 pm #

So jealous you met her. She’s such an ah-mazing singer.

    MASSIE

  49. miley14580clubpenguin August 27, 2014 at 8:50 pm #

I’m so sorry. That’s horrible. It really is. Those contest winners worked SO hard to win, and that’s how they get treated? I’m at a loss for words. Your daughters are very lucky to have met so many famous people, espically Britney Spears! I love her so much. It was so sweet of her to spend so much time with you and your family. She’s so sweet. Ariana, however, isn’t. I still can’t believe this.

  50. Gaelle desir August 27, 2014 at 8:52 pm #

This is outrageous I still can’t believe this and the fact they have a chance to redo it but just won’t. She should think twice cause her fans are what made all this happen for her, what will happen if she loses everything. I’m just saying she loses her fans it will be like losing everything cause they made her.

  51. kate August 27, 2014 at 10:38 pm #

if I had a choice whether to meet this brat or victoria justice i would without a doubt meet victoria. she’s spreaded SO many rumors about vic to try and tear that girl down and its sickening. People think this girl is truly like her character on victorious. She even tries to act Like her character to gain a fandom.honestly wish vic never allowed her to be in the show all she did was flirt with the creator and the guys behind the scenes anyway.fakest piece of shit ive ever come across.her entire family is

  52. LIsa August 28, 2014 at 12:21 am #

“A fan gave me a photo of me & my grandpa. I walked away because I didn’t want them to see me start to cry,” Ariana said. “I am still in mourning and I wrote a letter to have sent to her afterward but MTV told me they had already left. My heart is still healing and it’s moments like that that make it real again that he’s gone… wasn’t expecting it and [it] hit me like a ton of bricks.”

Nothing screams more fake to me than that statement. Obviously she could have been in touch multiple times since that event. It is no “mystery” who the person was, the father has come out very publicly and she can’t track them down to pass on a letter ? (That probably doesn’t exist.)

Shame on Mtv for trying to get an interview before meeting Ariana. I have to agree with what a lot of people are saying, these weren’t random fans that interrupted her while out to eat or something, these were fans that had won a contest that had her name on it, and she probably got money from in some way from her manager booking it. If you’re going to sell your name then you need to own your name. She is responsible for her behavior and no one else.

I think the term “Hang” is very misleading. It doesn’t imply a photo and 15 seconds worth of time, the contest was not “take a photo with Ariana” Or “Have 10 seconds with Ariana”. At the end of the day though, the contest organizers are the ones who are ultimately responsible for the logistical nightmare side of it.

I don’t want to harp on the family for celebrity spotting. They live in areas where this is common and maybe it’s a family bonding thing with them. Maybe they really just like entertainment. Or maybe they are just that nice and haven’t had trouble with celebrities in the past because they are respectful.

I’d teach my daughter the lesson from this and move on. A pretty packaged outside means nothing if a person is dead inside. And I would say that no matter what her excuse is, Ariana was dead inside that day.

    • Kim August 28, 2014 at 9:04 am #

Terrible how she behaved to your daughter and others! I teach my kids never to idolize anyone on T.V. They are just people that are on film. Doctors, cancer survivors, hard workers and such should be looked up to instead. I doubt A’s story that she was sad about her grandfather’s death after viewing a photo. She just doesn’t care about people anymore it appears.

  53. Christina August 28, 2014 at 6:14 am #

That’s so sad :( I love Ariana’s music and I’m sorry that the meet and greet didn’t meet your daughter’s expectations.

Ariana is really nice. I went to one of her meet and greets and she was so nice ❤️ She said (in the end) she had a busy day so she had to go and maybe that’s why she acted that way. Ariana is perfect okay.

And no one sees that many celebs. At least one or so. you excel at Photoshop.

    • Maura August 28, 2014 at 6:31 pm #

Yeah…o-kay. My dear, there is no such thing as anyone being the total embodiment of perfection, and even if there was, I highly doubt Ariana Grande comes close to that image regardless of her pretty looks and singing talent.

If anything, it sounds to me that the only things that have been ‘photoshopped’ are all of those so-called recent nice encounters with Ariana, which interestingly, only a handful of people like you seem to report.

P.S. It really is possible to meet many celebrities, by the by. I know friends who make it a point to go to movie premieres, TV festivals and comic conventions, and they’ve DEFINITELY met just as many famous people as this blogger and his family. So believe it – it happens, sweetie.

      • cvntqueen August 30, 2014 at 12:47 am #

b, did you even read the article, like…..

    • M August 28, 2014 at 6:40 pm #

Actually, if you live in an area like Las Vegas, New York, or L.A., it is likely you will see many celebrities. I live in Toronto and have encountered several celebrities without even seeking them out.

I am sorry that these contest winners had such a disappointing experience.

    • Anthony August 29, 2014 at 11:36 pm #

You sound super immature and biased; you must live out in the middle of no where because I’ve met many celebrities in my lifetime and I’m only 15, please control yourself…

    • Joe Karyn August 30, 2014 at 11:13 am #

It’s sad how you have no clue how dumb you sound. This obviously is real and you denying the fact that your favorite celebrity is “not perfect” is sad. These photos are real you need to open your eyes and realize no one is perfect and being rude to her fans and not caring doesn’t make her perfect.

    • Proving you wrong August 30, 2014 at 1:53 pm #

Actually upon further research of said photos, they are in fact real. I hate to brake it to you, but Arianna is in fact not the character she claims to be. I met her via a contest, and she said 4 words and left. You sir/ma’am, are an idiot.

    • Zayde Melendez August 30, 2014 at 11:26 pm #

Damn, chill. That’s his story and may it be true… or not, it’s his problem. And there is no way a person would do all of this, especially a grown man with a family. One more thing: Maybe they have met as many celebrities because they actually try.

  56. Megan August 28, 2014 at 10:18 am #

Ariana is just an insecure little girl who, quite frankly, isn’t that great of a singer. Have fun with Naya’s leftovers!

  57. knichol August 28, 2014 at 1:12 pm #

what a fake BITCH! Regardless of terrible event plannings, there is no excuse to treat people like that, it’s called common courtesy! This only shows Ariana has no manners, ugh! besides that her music is terrible!

  59. hadleyjanae August 28, 2014 at 3:23 pm #

Bravo for posting this! It was an eye opener to many, and hopefully Ariana herself.

  60. Sabrina August 28, 2014 at 4:07 pm #

This is really dissappoiting, I saw this coming. I never liked her anyways, she thinks she can hide everything with a smile and make herself look like an innocent girl? I knew it from the day I found out Jeannette McCurdy said she was a fake friend to her. That is just rude of her to do something like this, I would never want to meet her. I actually thought different of you Ariana. Wow.

  61. Sabrina August 28, 2014 at 6:42 pm #

http://agrande-news.tumblr.com/post/95848210653/arianas-dms-to-a-fan-in-regards-to-a-faulty-blog please read this. ariana didn’t mean anything by it, i’m really sorry about your daughter

    • Dustin Corey Bumgarner August 28, 2014 at 7:02 pm #

You can believe all the lies you wish. You can be a fan of her if you will. But the majority of people who have commented on this blog are in agreement with Ariana’s actions. She’s lied right to your faces. You’re blinded by her always present sweetness, which she uses so people will like her. Well I ain’t buying her lies one bit! It’s said before that yes, a death in a family is devastating. However, this is NO excuse whatsoever to make a Fan’s lifelong dream a total nightmare. Open your eyes and realize nobody is perfect. We’re all human, we all make mistakes. But those who really care would own up to their mistake in a true and real way. Ariana should have acted in a different manner than just storming off the way she did. Besides, this is not the ONLY current story of Ari’s diva-like behavior. Here’s the link to yet ANOTHER story that shows her stuck up ways.

      http://www.celebuzz.com/2014-08-28/ariana-grande-diva-behavior/?utm_source=sc-fb&utm_medium=ref&utm_campaign=agrande

Now, Ari should really apologize in the CORRECT way and compensate for this terrible situation.

Check out this twitlonger too by a girl in 2011. Angry “Arianators” bullied the girl so viciously till her account was suspended. http://www.twitlonger.com/show/d507nu

Its never from the celeb, its from her team and PR managers that come up with the sorry’s come on people get real!

  62. Stephanie August 28, 2014 at 7:30 pm #

Before you read this, here’s a little disclaimer: I’m about to sound like a bitter lonely old loser, but I promise I’m just a 19 year old girl trying to give you a little glimpse of reality for a second. Sorry if I offend anyone. That’s not my intention at all. I also am not even a huge Ariana Grande fan, but I do like her and just feel like this post is ignoring a lot of important things, and that gets to me.

You’re writing this post as if you’re some sort of victim of serious abuse. I understand fully how disappointing it is to have your feelings hurt by someone you look up to, and I’m sorry you had to experience that, but that’s life. You’re fine. People would kill to have the experiences you’ve had, and you should be thankful. You’re complaining about things like walking farther than you wanted to and Heaven forbid getting a little dirt on your outfit that you bought for the event (which by the way– Most people can’t just dish out money on entire brand new outfits for single events. You just seem like you are coming off a bit spoiled.) …these are not big issues when you consider that you won a contest that THOUSANDS of people dreamt of winning. You were one of TWO winners for MTV…That alone is freaking cool. Also, they FLEW YOU OUT. You kept saying “we traveled so far waah” …if you had to pay for your travel, I would feel bad. Travel is expensive. It’s also stressful and time consuming, which I understand, but when someone else is paying for it, it’s FUN. Yeah, you had to pay for cab fare and that’s sucky, but my gosh it’s not a big deal after having thousands of dollars of travel and hotel bills handed to you. You got to stay in a city that people dream about even catching a glimpse of. Not to mention you were given free tickets to an insanely exclusive celebrity event that millions of us would do anything to even get near. I’ve been in the nosebleeds before and it ALWAYS beats not getting to go. AND you got a picture with Ariana? I understand she didn’t treat you as well as she could have, but honestly a picture with her is still so cool. Oh, and remember that experience you got in 2011? That was amazing. You are one of a TINY handful of people who have been able to experience something like that. How about being a little bit thankful that you had that, in addition to all of the countless other celebrities you have apparently met. And speaking of other celebrities, comparing them is not accurate. Everyone is different; some people have personalities that are confident and bubbly, and others are a little insecure or shy (plus everywhere in between the two). Ariana tends to be the latter. She seems like a girl with no reason to be that way, but just because she’s beautiful and famous doesn’t mean she feels that way on the inside. Being in the spotlight is something that intensifies those insecurities too, so that’s probably why she might be even more insecure these days than she was in 2011. I don’t know a ton about Ariana, but I’ve noticed that she feels invaded sometimes when it comes to people always snapping pictures of her and bombarding her with requests. Some celebrities are more comfortable with that type of thing, but that doesn’t make Ariana any “worse”, it’s just a part of her that she has to deal with. Different people are comfortable with different things. As far as this whole situation goes, I guess I just want to say that life does not revolve around you, and there was clearly a lot more going on at that meet and greet you won. You don’t know what was going on before Ariana came out to you guys or after she left. Sometimes if you’re going through something, you can’t even put on a façade. She lost her grandpa, and she is under a lot of pressure (clearly—fans like you take one bad day she had and publicly take it and make people think she’s a terrible person. People put her and other celebrities under a microscope and it’s kind of ridiculous how high everyone sets the bar. They’re humans, and humans aren’t perfect). I promise I am not trying to attack you or anything… I know I am coming off really rude, but this is kinda the only way I can accurately say what I want to say about this. Have a nice day and I hope you can look at the happy things that you’ve gotten out of your experiences.

    • Michele Michalec August 29, 2014 at 6:10 am #

She choose the spot light! and if she doesn’t like it she should get out of the fire. I am sorry your letter has a lot of compassion for both sides but really and flat out being polite, that all you have to do!

      • Stephanie August 29, 2014 at 10:02 am #

She did choose the spotlight, but only because performing is her passion. It just happens to come with being put under a microscope, which isn’t something most people enjoy (understandably). And I’m not sure if you were saying I was polite or impolite, but either way, I tried my best to say what I was thinking while still being civil.

    • okayrose August 30, 2014 at 4:11 pm #

This is actually exactly what I was thinking. You wrote this really well in my opinion. I completely agree. Celebrities are normal people, they have bad days, they experience things like every other person would. The only difference is that they have abnormal jobs, which yes is a huge difference but at the basic core of life, they are the same as you and I.

  63. Ingrid August 28, 2014 at 8:55 pm #

You should tell your daughters to spend their time on something more worthy than worshipping celebrities. Like getting good grades and working hard. A celebrity wasn’t nice to you? Such first world problems.

    • Stephanie August 29, 2014 at 9:52 am #

      Exactly!!

    • Maura August 29, 2014 at 3:20 pm #

For the most part, what you’re saying is true (minus your wonderful sarcasm, of course), which ironically is another reason why I’m glad that the blogger mentioned his child’s experience with this celebrity. By commenting on it, he has indirectly pointed out to others (especially to many young people, who obviously are reading this post) that perhaps all that time and effort dedicated to celebrity worship isn’t completely worth it. I think that it takes experiences like this for people to rethink how much they are personally investing in little people like this singer – and while it hurts now, it’s a useful wake-up call.

And that’s why I personally like it when people share this type of information. In a way, I’d like to think that it serves as a reminder for everyone to get their heads out of the clouds and back down to earth. This blogger’s account definitely reminded me that these supposedly sweet celebs are far from being God’s gift to mankind…and they do not deserve my money and my precious time.

    • nancyleedunn August 31, 2014 at 6:01 pm #

Really. What bothered me most about this was the time this family spends chasing down celebrities. How about showing the girls really worthy people instead of these generally vacuous people?

  64. Fatima August 28, 2014 at 11:08 pm #

at a meet and greet Bridgit Mendler heard some fans with no M&G passes singing to her songs so she rushed to sing with them. and when fans send her any gifts she makes time to dedicate a tweet to every single one who got her something. Now that’s a real star with a real heart not like that stupid fako Ariana. I’m so sorry about your experience I always knew she wasnt that sweet and I’m sorry for those Arianators who are tricked by that fake smile of hers

    • Stephanie August 29, 2014 at 10:00 am #

Okay I get what you’re saying but take a second and think about how many people try to meet Bridget Mendler. Now think about how many millions of people are trying to meet Ariana… There’s a bit of a difference. I’m not saying Ariana is blameless here– she should’ve been nicer– but you can’t compare her to a celebrity with only a tiny fraction of the amount of fame she has. That’s not exactly fair.

      • Fatima August 30, 2014 at 3:25 am #

so when you have millions of fans your sweet personality must disappear? :/ what about the interview MTV did with the winners before even meeting Ariana and they had to pretend that she was a total sweetheart and whatnot. What’s not fair was what Ariana did :) Btw it’s Bridgit* thanks, you’re welcome :3

  65. richardlathrop August 29, 2014 at 12:56 am #

That’s how most of these things are.

A lot of artists are really shitty now.

For example, last year I opened for a popular group that had a hit song blowing up everywhere.

After their set, I was standing backstage and before a second had gone by, one of the members had walked by, said how the show sucked, and we never saw him again that night.

It all depends on the artist and if they actually give a shit about their fans. As much respect as I have for hardworking pop artists, it looks like Ariana isn’t like she used to be, and that is awful.

I am sorry for what happened there, and I hope you have some other amazing experiences with celebrities to clear this up :)

  66. Wow August 29, 2014 at 3:56 am #

That is heartbreaking to read. Ariana’s sinus infection is really messing with her mentally.

  67. zeeshan August 29, 2014 at 6:49 am #

Jen gave ari a picture of her grandpa, ari got upset because her grandpa died, so thats why she did this

  68. Reverse Aging August 29, 2014 at 8:11 am #

Not to take away from the main point of the post but did anyone else notice Kelly looked older in the 2003 photos w/ Britney Spears than in the current Arianna GRande selfie?

  69. Zoe Bella August 29, 2014 at 1:27 pm #

Sounds like Ari had her period that day

    • Pea August 29, 2014 at 7:43 pm #

That’s not a cool thing to say?
And even if she was, it wouldn’t be an excuse to treat fans so rudely…

  70. Nancy August 29, 2014 at 2:17 pm #

I’m sorry for the hurt feelings your daughter must have felt.

  71. Becca August 29, 2014 at 9:27 pm #

Sorry but your daughter sounds like a spoiled brat. She’s met all these celebrities when most people have met ZERO and she throws a tantrum because it wasn’t good enough? Not to mention the fact that she already met Ariana in 2011 when she was all smiles and had a great day. She got to fly out to LA for FREE, attend the VMAs for FREE, meet her fav celeb for FREE… And that still didn’t meet her crazy standards? The chance to go to LA alone would be enough for me to be satisfied but you’re having a hissy fit because Ariana told her to delete a picture?

Come ON. Your daughter needs to grow up and find another hobby. Obviously stalking celebrities isn’t hitting the spot anymore.

    • sierra August 30, 2014 at 4:00 am #

You obviously don’t get what its like to meet an idol. Especially for a second time.
She didnt care about the trip she just wanted to meet Ariana again. Its not the best feeling to have one of your idols treat you like you didnt come miles and miles just for them and treat you like you dont matter.
She never said her daughter had a tantrum, she said she was shocked and upset. There is a huge difference.

    • panda August 30, 2014 at 9:30 am #

She had to pay for her own transportation, taxes, and won the contest. I’d say she worked pretty hard for that meet and it definitely wasn’t free. Did you even read the whole thing?

    • KC August 30, 2014 at 11:05 pm #

Ok, I actually have a really good comparison story that might make things clearer: I met Chris Colfer (from Glee) back in July at a book signing. When I got to the front of the line, he had accidentally signed both the girl in front of me’s (whom I had been chatting with) and my books in one go. Not realizing this, he reached out to sign my book a second time, which his publicist quickly and sternly corrected him on while subtly attempting to move me along before I had the chance to say a single word to him. Quietly, I ignored her and said “Hi”. He greeted me right back and complimented my shirt. I thanked him, and quickly told him what I wanted to tell him. The entire time he was smiling and nodding, doing everything he could to show that he was listening. When I finished, he graciously thanked me, and then I was ushered out the door.

Despite his time with each fan being extremely limited, he did his best to interact with everyone. He understood how much it meant to us all, and tried to make the most of that time as he could. He was genuinely sweet and wonderful to every single person he met. I walked away from the experience feeling validated in my adoration for him. Like he actually cared, even if he more than likely forgot me the second I was gone.

That seems to be a lot more than can be said for Ariana.

  72. Grace August 29, 2014 at 11:30 pm #

Britney Spears is honestly so nice despite what people say, she lives in my area and my friend was at church with her mom, and even though you couldn’t take picture (she had a body guard with her, I understand it was for privacy purposes), she still talked politely or said hi to anyone who approached her, and I think that’s what a real celebrity should do

  73. Princess August 30, 2014 at 12:05 am #

WOW. Those are the only words I have.
She used to be so bubbly, nice and down to earth. I guess this is what fame does to people.

I’ve seen this before. I met Cody Simpson after two years of being insanely in love with him. When I went up to him he seemed bored and as if he’d rather be doing something else than sit there. After waiting an hour in line and by nerves were out of the roof. I had no idea what I wanted to say to him. So as I was face to face, and shaking I merely asked him if I could have a hug. He didn’t even look me in the eyes as he said “uhhh I don’t know.” I felt very embarrassed. He passed me him signed poster and said thank you in a robotic tune. I said “Thank you I love you so much” and he looked at me as if saying to move along. I felt like crying. I had imagined so much more from this meet.

Ariana seems so fan interactive and lovely, especially on twitter! She’s even tweeted me before and followed me. I have noticed her changing a lot though. I guess the pressure, insecurities, haters, attention and influence of other popstars seem to take a toll phycologically. It’s seen in most superstars to be divas.

  74. zoe August 30, 2014 at 2:54 am #

it doesn’t matter if ariana was mourning bc in addition to being a mediocre singer, ariana is also a mediocre actress. don’t pretend like this bitch couldn’t play nice for 12 seconds yall. ariana grande is a fraudulent heaux period point blank

  75. sierra August 30, 2014 at 3:56 am #

I have to admit, i am beyond shocked because its so hard to believe because of how you see her in interviews and videos and stuff. Like I recently went to try to meet her in nyc and her mom and grandma were so nice (even though they were practically getting mobbed), and this really nice guy who worked where she was staying talked about how she brought tons of fans inside to take pics and how her security only didnt let her stop if there wete too many. The most she did was like 25-30 people. And like the paparazzi guy that I know said she either stops for everyone or not at all because sometimes she cant.
So wow, I am so sorry that your daughter went through that I would feel horrible and im not even as big a fan as she is. I guess celebs are really good at deceiving people. And even if she was having a bad day, she couldve made an effort like wow.. Thats so horrible

  76. Ai August 30, 2014 at 8:28 am #

Okay the first picture looks SO PHOTOSHOPPED. I doubt it is real. But Ariana doesn’t seem like the type of person, but she could be. I just don’t think she would really try to hurt her fans/

  77. Julie August 30, 2014 at 8:52 am #

Wow. Ariana is just one of those celebrities. At first I didn’t believe it, but the attached photos totally proved it all.

  78. Shawna August 30, 2014 at 8:59 am #

Celebrities don’t owe you anything. Just so you know. They will almost always disappoint, because they are people.

Yes, she could have been kinder and more accomodating, but this is the world of show business. It’s about money and self-advancement.

Looking up to strangers who are busy with their careers, while exciting, is no good, and almost always a waste of time. Sorry for your terrible experience.

  79. dee August 30, 2014 at 9:23 am #

The entertainment industry’s bread and butter are families like this. People who spend money and time promoting stars and their projects for free. All because they love that celebrity. And when celebrities forget they need their fans. It’s very sad! I remember when Sharon Stone would mean mug the paps. She wouldn’t take pictures or she would let them take one or two then run into whatever building she was going into. They got together at a movie premiere and decided not to take any pictures of her. When she walked down the red carpet. The paps put down their cameras and looked at her. Embarrassed she walked into the theater. Her PR person came out and asked why weren’t they taking pictures of Sharon? They told her because Sharon is a rude bit#h. And she’s forgotten that she needs them just as much as they need her. The PR agent asked what could she do to get them to take pictures of Sharon again? They told her if Sharon comes back out. And stands there like someone grateful to be in the position that she is in. And let them take the pictures they need. They would start taking Sharon’s pictures again. Sharon came back out and she and the paps have had a better relationship sense that incident. I told that Sharon Stone story because the only thing that hurts a celebrity that is full of themselves is threats to their career.

I think ariana is a cover up, she cares so much about looking good in front of people that whenever something bad comes out about her she always tries to find excuses.. She’s manipulative, she’s full of herself and y’all are getting tricked with the act cuz she’s nothing like how she puts herself out to be and if you saw her in interviews and meet and greets and put all the pieces together you would understand and the reason she’s doing good is because of her rich family and her “team” misleading fans on social media. She is a typical stereotype and as long as something works for her and she’s gaining attention she will do anything to keep it even if that means to go against friends. Just wait till she changes later on, if you like ariana’s music or her songs it doesn’t connect to liking her as a person. its all disconnected but people in the industry share their talent and that’s why people adore them. But don’t buy into the act please. Btw I’ve despised ariana ever since the beginning of 2013 and I’ve looked into everything that I just said and there’s no point in denying it because it makes perfect sense. I’m not going to say things like she’s a bad person or whatever but I would go as far as saying ariana is rude at times or whatever it may be but she’s definitely overrated and I just really hope people see her for her true self instead of her image.

  82. Thor August 30, 2014 at 7:18 pm #

Its really messed up how a celebrity be like that towards a fan! It was the girl’s hope and dream to meet her idol, and Ariana being rude like that, it made me so mad! It was nice the family members met Britney Spears and other celebrities respected the family and was nice to them. Makes me wonder why Ariana was being so rude!

  83. Rebecca Meyer August 30, 2014 at 7:58 pm #

This is so sad! I’ve always been afraid of meeting a celebrity I’m a fan of, only to find out that the person is a jerk. Everyone has bad days, celebrities included, but it’s important as a person in the public eye to be kind at the very least.

  84. Liam August 31, 2014 at 3:33 am #

Omg you guys got to meet Britney!! So jealous, how do you guys get to meet all these celebrities!!! I’m sorry about your experience though.

  85. bdsmith416 August 31, 2014 at 7:43 am #

oh nooo, an artist got stuck in a toxic industry with a bunch of agents policing her public behavior because she’s a lot more popular than she used to be back in 2011 and probably has people approach her CONSTANTLY, and she doesn’t want to spend time with your daughter who’s already had a bunch of great and privileged celebrity encounters

    sucks

    • Kat August 31, 2014 at 2:40 pm #

It’s the fact that the girls went through all the time and trouble to meet this person, even paying money out of their own pockets, only to be practically shunned. I’m sure you wouldn’t be so dismissive and understanding about it if you were treated the same.

  86. Chloee August 31, 2014 at 8:02 am #

She is a typical stereotype and as long as something works for her and she’s gaining attention she will do anything to keep it even if that means to go against friends. Just wait till she changes later on. This girl is the definition of brainwashing society and guess what singing high doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a great singer lol but people who don’t know music always think that is. If you guys like ariana’s music or her songs it doesn’t connect to liking her as a person. its all disconnected but people in the industry share their talent and that’s why people adore them. But don’t buy into the act please.

I’m not going to say things like she’s a bad person or whatever but I would go as far as saying ariana is not as nice as you think she is and that also doesn’t mean she’s a decent person, this girl can be plain rude according to people who’ve known her for a long time. Don’t give me shit about “she was havin a bad day” or “this is fake and you’re just jealous” because thats what they want you to think, she’s also an actress don’t pretend that she can’t act nice for a few minutes while meeting someone. what counts is being with the person in longer hours to actually know how they’re like. She’s definitely overrated and I just really hope people see her for her true self instead of her image.

It’s too long to write all the details on what she’s done and all the stunts she’s pulled along the way to get where she is today but feel free to ask me to clarify if there’s anything that you’re unsure about because i’ve gathered and looked into all of these things. Every Delete she made, it’s all been seen by me ever since 2013.

So to all her fans, sorry if you guys get offended but don’t reply to me with hate because i’m not saying she’s a bad person, she’s just not the type of person that I would like. I don’t think I’ll ever like her but I will honestly not send hate to her directly because that’s just not fair. There’s always going to be people that you just don’t like. I hope you guys don’t take that to offence and I hope you guys don’t go against victoria (who i like) just for saying my opinion. also, telling me she’s successful or whatever doesn’t prove her personality, sending me a video of her being nice to fans doesn’t prove anything, giving me unneccassary comments such as “this is fake, you’re jealous” is not true and doesn’t prove anything.

    • Tanya August 31, 2014 at 12:53 pm #

I’m intrigued now. What stunts etc?

  87. Chloee August 31, 2014 at 8:27 am #

Also, I’m very sorry about your daughters having to experience this but it was a good thing to expose her so that others don’t have to go through the pain. I would recommend though, to your whole family, not to associate any further with this or as a matter of fact continue loving ariana if this is the case. If your daughters would like to buy her album, sure they can but don’t consider her a role model or idol because if Ariana isn’t doing anything to reach out to you guys then there is no reason for your daughters to consider her as someone they would want to be. Especially not if this continues… She may’ve been nice for a few minutes in the past but how do you not know that she wasnt just acting nice for a few minutes? Trust me, if you’d like to find out look into the drama with Ariana & Victoria (who’ve worked together) victoria is the sweetest and realest person I know in the acting business and she called ariana out on being a phony and obviously that’s true. Also, if that’s not enough for you to see.. Check out Ariana & Jennette drama. Look at Jennette’s Show “What’s Next For Sarah?” episode 3. “Gloriana” is probably(without the much exaggerating) just like Ariana would act in real life and if your daughters are okay with loving someone who only cares about herself and turns against people in return for fame then I’m personally sorry for the cluelessness.

There really is no point now that all of this has happened that your daughters should be reaching out. Just stay back and lets see how the media would like it if this blog does become more popular and just so you guys know this was very brave of all of you guys to write this knowing that you would recieve hate.

Lastly, I would like to say to your daughters: sorry about what happened, it’s not your guy’s fault, it’s Ariana’s and I would also like to say that you guys be more careful as in which role model you choose because that can impact your personality as well. Her Music has nothing to do with this; buy it if you want (which I would not recommend unless you really really love it) but don’t take it though that she is a good person because of that. I apologize for the inconvenience and I hope this all gets resolved as soon as possible. I hope you guys can get somethin in exchange for the hard work you put in the art work. Love & Peace. I wish you all the best xo

And we are supposed to believe this why? And to me it looks like this ‘contest winner’ is very lucky as she has met more celebrities than most people. Be grateful! Some people wait hours/months to meet their idols and some don’t even get to meet them. They would do anything to just even see them in person. I know I would do anything to meet my idol and would not care one bit of all I could have was a picture.

  89. jess August 31, 2014 at 9:28 am #

guys, you’re taking this too far. if i didn’t know better i’d say you were all butthurt. you don’t know her personally. don’t attack her like you know her inside and out. yeah, she’s a celebrity. yeah, she was rude. yeah, she should’ve been nicer. but you have to understand that she’s a human being too, just like us, who feels every emotion we do. you don’t know what circumstances she was in that made her act that way. maybe someone made her feel bad just before the incident, or maybe she was dealing with some issues of her own, personal issues like, oh, i don’t know, her grandmother recently dying? that is quite depressing. imagine someone close to you pass away. wouldn’t you be sad? wouldn’t you be depressed? just try to empathize with her, and stop judging her so viciously like you’re all saints.

    • jess August 31, 2014 at 9:34 am #

*I meant grandfather. clearly i’m an idiot who doesn’t read. apologies.

  90. Katelyn August 31, 2014 at 9:53 am #

Fame has ruined her. She has became a selfish, cold girl when she used to be so sweet and kind. She’s ungrateful. Any girl in the world would love to take her place, and she complains. She writes music that doesn’t make sense. She treats her fans like crap. She worries more about her hair extension and her shoes than her music. Autotune is her best friend, seeing as she doesn’t sing well live. She’s a total wannabe, when she used to be original. She’s probably copied every single artist known to man. She wears lingerie on stage. She’s lost so much weight, and it’s not just from being a vegan, it’s from being anorexic or snorting cocaine like various other celebrities. She’s gotten a nose job and plastic surgery on her lip at a young age. Her relationships overlap each other. She cheated on Jai Brooks for publicity. DAYS after she breaks up with Jai Brooks, she’s with Big Sean. She’s ruining her life and she doesn’t even realize it.

  91. No August 31, 2014 at 2:09 pm #

It’s sad how much it seems your family worships celebrities. Maybe spend some time away from the entertainment industry for a while.

  92. ana August 31, 2014 at 5:55 pm #

do these people seriously care so much that ariana was rude to them even though they’ve met soooo many other celebrities? Like im not trying tk excuse her behavior in the slightest but honestly are you so self centered and judgemental that you’re going to care so much about one bad encounter with a celebrity?

  93. vinny September 1, 2014 at 11:44 pm #

This why you don’t let your kids worship these fake self absorbed fools.

  94. Rebecca September 2, 2014 at 11:13 pm #

I agree that the way your daughters were treated at the meet and greet is disappointing. However, after having a quick look at Jen’s social media accounts I am alarmed by the extent to which she seems to idolize celebrities. It is unhealthy to devote so much time to painstakingly drawing pictures of various celebrities and stating that it will ‘make your life’ if they notice or respond. Hopefully something positive can come out of this experience, in that she realizes that celebrities are just people like the rest of us – people who can sometimes be inconsiderate and a disappointment – and that they’re not worthy of devoting so much time to.

    • primalscreaming September 3, 2014 at 12:34 pm #

Thank you for your comment. I’m not sure I agree that Jen’s hobby of drawing celebrities is “unhealthy”. She draws non-famous folks too – but she posts the famous ones and hopes for the stars to see them. Most of her time is devoted to important matters such as attending college on her scholarship, but having an inconsequential down-time hobby harms no one. It’s no less frivolous than reading a celebrity blog post and typing a lengthy reply. A bit of fun – a time-passer, but not “unhealthy”.

  95. Marsal September 3, 2014 at 4:34 am #

People always act so surprise when their expectations on a celebrity turns out the complete opposite of what they are. This is sort of the reason why people shouldn’t have their lives all warped around a celebrity/celebrities. I get that it’s exciting to meet famous individuals and buy/watch/listen to whatever part of the industry they pertain to whether it’s music/movie entertainment but later on that emotion that’s drawn to the person dwindles little by little anyway. Yeah it’s sad that the greet with Ariana didn’t go as your family had hoped for, I personally don’t think it comes as a surprise. I don’t get why you would post this unless you really just wanted to tell a story about how your expectations on a girl wasn’t met and just want to make others aware of how Ariana is a “stuck up diva” or still feeling genuinely hurt by it. Maybe Ariana really is a fake person as a lot claim she is but even if it is that’s just how she might be.

  96. Becca September 5, 2014 at 10:25 pm #

Wow. I have been a fan of Ariana for a long time. I never knew she acted like this until a few months ago. I hope she cleans up her “innocent” look because it seems like more and more people are starting to realize. You can compare her from then and now, then: bows, sweet voice, cute clothing. Now: chanel, auto-tuned screech voice, skimpy, skin revealing clothing.

  97. romy September 6, 2014 at 1:12 pm #

the first picture is fake I kinda believed the whole story but the first pic is definitly photoshopped all the pics are. I feel so sorry for the ones who do believe this, I met ariana at 9th november 2013 she was very nice and she even took time to take pictures from all of her fans who where waiting for here that moment it wasn’t much fans cuz I knew were she would stay the night. At the airport there were like hundreds of them waiting for her she waived and blew a kiss to her fans, she even took time to take a selfie she wanted to stay but she couldn’t. She definitly isn’t the idol I know what you described, she literally took all the time for taking a picture at the hotel, she even posted it at instagram. I don’t know if you just made up this story but this is just wrong, you all are saying shit about her so everyone think she isn’t the idol she is like

  98. ARI September 6, 2014 at 7:57 pm #

I think you guys ought to stop criticize. Yes, she was a bit rude to Jen, but maybe it was just that moment, and she really could be going through a bad time.
Now call her fake and she is talking all the time is just not right.
I can talk, I’m Arianator long and accompany her and her career years, she is a kind and sweet girl, you guys should find out more about her life. And see how she is with fans. Here is one of the proofs that she LOVES HER FANS.
Ps: If you have any error not judge me, I’m from Brazil and do not know English fluently. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kQ4x1p_X7M

Well, everything supportive I can think to say, has already been said by others in these comments. I hope all goes well. And remember, as you yourself pointed out, there are others that are far more willing to give you the appreciation you deserve.

I will say this, though: not only has this post literally destroyed every preconceived poor notion I used to have about Britney Spears until now…

…but it makes me want to start buying her records (God help me… ^_^ ).

    • aishakar91 September 10, 2014 at 7:24 pm #

My quesstis even if this is true, how is your daughter meeting all these famous ppl and winning all these contests. There seems to be way too much focus amf preoccupation eith meeting famous ppl and seeing how they treat you, expecting them and even testing their kindness. Regardless of her rudeness, have you ever thought about encouraging your daughters to pursue a bigger goal in life than meeting celebrities, who are essentially strangers, and then getting butthurt about how they treat you. It hurts I understand but they’re people and you cant control them, you can only control your own actions

      • primalscreaming September 10, 2014 at 7:44 pm #

It’s known as a “hobby”. My daughters are A students in college. Receiving scholarships. They also have jobs. People are capable of more than one interest. They’ve won contests because they have taken the time to enter them and do what is required in order to win. File that under “perseverance”.

    • primalscreaming September 10, 2014 at 7:49 pm #

Thank you so much. Britney really was very kind. It’s the type of thing fans will remember forever.

  101. monochromejunkie September 11, 2014 at 2:05 pm #

Ariana = sold out Illuminati puppet. You don’t get the big-time if you don’t sell your soul, literally, and, Ariana is SOLD. She’s an Illuminati “diamond”. (Google it- interesting stuff.) You’ll notice an abundance of shots of Ariana covering one eye (Illuminati symbolism), wearing black and white- more relevant symbolism- shushing her mouth- and entertaining butterflies (which is synonymous with Project Monarch). All Illuminati occultism. Ariana is quite literally, dancing with the devil, as the very stage she danced on at the VMA’s were 3 large 6’s (representing the mark of the beast), painted onto the floor. Education is a beautiful thing.

Be glad that you were able to (inadvertently) intervene, Pops. It all worked out for the best. This is a good lesson for your girls (and others) to not “worship another human being”. When the smoke and mirrors are gone- it’s just another person.

We’re all talented and we all shine. We all have a calling. Our goals should be to find out just what that is and live it. Wish your family much peace. Ignore the haters. That’s just the machine taking a dump.

p.s. Feel free to stop by any time. Good seeing you again. ;0)

  102. eric alexander September 11, 2014 at 10:48 pm #

So after reading quite a few of these comments I really just have to say this. Who cares. I’m sorry your daughters had a crappy experience meeting their idol but that’s what happens when you hit it big. The fame poisons your soul and it turns you into something unpleasant. And that’s what is happening here Ariana is sucked into the big time and until they suck every dollar they can out of her she is always going to be this fake person she has become. And I’ll tell you right now nothing will come of this thread. They aren’t going to get tickets they aren’t going to get a redo they aren’t even going to get an apology because Ariana could care less. She has billions of fans if one or two get offended along the way it doesn’t matter to her. And I swear this dumb little war going on in the comments needs to stop. No one needs to come to arianas rescue its like defending her is gonna get you noticed by her. There’s also no need to tear her down she will do that on her own it won’t be immediate but it will happen. Also this is just the perfect example of why kids should not look up to famous actors, singers, etc. People like that will always let you down its just a fact of life. We need to just let this go. Hollywood doesn’t care about any of us “little people” as long as we keep seeing their movies and listening to their music and buying their merchandise they don’t care. People need to start realizing that and stop thinking that things will change just cause they post an angry comment or start a “movement”. This is the way its always gonna be. Just enjoy it when a famous person is nice cause at least it means that not everyone is d-bag.

  103. Addie :) (@FearlessWhovian) September 12, 2014 at 12:35 am #

Wow. I used to be an Ariana fan when she started off on Victorious, but I stopped watching the show for various reasons, mainly school and work. She seemed like a sweet girl in those first couple of years, but as her fame grew, it became clear that she was changing and sadly not for the better.

As a fellow fangirl (and no I’m not a teenager. I’m a 21 year old college student who works and doesn’t spend all her time “worshipping” celebrities as some of you have said about these girls.) I’m so sorry your daughters had such a bad experience to someone they look up to. (To all those who’ve commented before me, don’t act like it’s such a bad thing to idolize/look up to a celebrity, whether you admit it or not the majority of us are guilty of having done so.) Yes, she may have been having a bad day, as we all do, it’s part of being human. But being a public figure, she should have put on a brave face or at least have acted in a professional manner for her fans who worked hard and deservedly earned the prize of hanging out with her during the VMA weekend and not act indifferent and demanding.

For those of you calling these girls spoiled and bratty because their father chose to share their experience on his blog and that they’re whiny because they’ve met so many celebrities sometimes more than once, the same way you say that we can’t judge Ariana because we don’t know her personally, the same can be said for this family. You don’t know them, you can’t judge them. It isn’t uncommon for residents of places like Vegas, NY or LA to see celebrities all the time. Some of us just by chance, luck or whatever you want to call it, happen to live in or near these places.

On any given day, I or anyone for that matter can drive down to LA and see celebrities going about their business. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet, authors, directors, singers, actors (not just from Nick but Disney Channel as well), dancers who have more fame and more accomplishments under their belts such as Academy Awards. Best examples being Jennifer Lawrence. I met Jennifer both before (in 2012 before THG franchise made her a household name) and after she won her Oscar (in 2013) and the only thing that’s changed about her is the fact that her publicist tries to keep her on a more strict schedule. At the Catching Fire premiere, she skipped/cut her interviews short with reporters in order to spend more times greeting the fans and signing autographs while on the red carpet.

Even though she and her costars were rushed, they interacted with the fans as much as they could. Just because you have fame doesn’t mean you should let the fame get to your head. Again, as humans celebrities or not, we are all entitled to having our bad days or being in crap moods, but in the end it’s not the fault of the fans, they shouldn’t have to be subject to that. In regards to the fact that she didn’t know how to get in contact with you, that is complete and total bullshit. I’m calling it as it is for the simple fact that ok, maybe she didn’t know how to contact you after the “M&G” but MTV did, how else would they have contacted the winners? She could have easily had someone in her team ask MTV for your contact info. Very unprofessional of her to not apologize directly to the fans involved and opting for a public statement just makes her side of the story sound more fake. MTV soooo mishandled this event, is all I can say.

To your daughters: as a fellow fangirl, I’d like to say this. Don’t give up on your hopes of meeting your idols. Hopefully your other idols or celebs that you look up to are more genuine and down to earth than Ariana was/is and that if you do get to meet them one day, you have a better experience than this.

To the father: bravo for posting this for your daughters and for standing your ground. Not many parents are this supportive when it comes to their kids wanting /trying to meet their favorite celebrities or idols.

  104. Socialworkerrm September 12, 2014 at 5:53 am #

Wow, this guy is such a great writer and to get so many people to read his blog, celebrities should hire him for their public relations. Maybe ariana should switch pr firms. He makes her look worse than they make her look good.

  105. mistyb September 12, 2014 at 7:09 pm #

the good Book says that we should not keep idols. i mean i never understood the obsession about celebrities anyways. like who cares.
but it’s a good thing this happened, because hopefully this will convince more people to stop worshiping them.

Let’s see if she can still be remembered with that attitude haha

There’s never any excuse for being rude! On the other hand, I have some advice. It may sound mean and I swear I don’t intend it that way. Why not guide your daughters away from all these tv and pop stars? Surely, they are smart, talented girls in their own right and don’t need to be chasing down mindless pop stars to feel good. I was glad to read about the pleasant experiences you have had, but honestly, I would not invest so much time and energy into meeting these people. Your daughters could be using that time to develop their own talents. I hope this is taken as friendly advice; I am not trying to slam you and you sound like really nice parents. :-)

    • primalscreaming September 16, 2014 at 1:16 pm #

Thank you. People can have many interests. My daughters are in college and have jobs as well. They have also received scholarships. They, like many others, have varied interests and talents. Celebrities and contests form a part of their interest base. Jen’s talent for drawing won her this nationwide contest to begin with. I see no harm in varied interests. That would be like me trying to accuse you of being some type of “blog reader and poster” because you wrote this, rather than assuming it was just of passing interest to you, along with whatever more serious interests and talents you may have.

Since they already met Britney Spears, that seems lucky enough.

    • Julie September 17, 2014 at 8:52 am #

I agree, Britney is the best.

  111. Chia September 18, 2014 at 9:23 am #

Alright so let me put my two cents in because if a fan can use their time, effort, and voice send death threats (which is extremely illegal, I’m sorry your children have to go through that) then I can say what’s on my mind about Ari.
OKAY so does anyone, anyone at all get this weird feeling that the whole “I’m sweet and innocent. Love me because I love you and we’ll be best friends forever!” is familiar? I do!

HIGH SCHOOL. There was always that one girl who was extremely nice to everyone and then they became popular. Guess what happened? All of that handing out lollipops and hugs for everyone disappears. Shadiness surfaces and before you know it, that sweet girl (or guy) turns into this very real, very scary version of who they once were. Or were they really that person to begin with?

    My back up?
Those pictures Dan/Dad has provided us. The first few pictures (of the fisrt time they met her) shows a very BFF’y type of girl showing a care free smile and peace signs.
In the second set of pictures, she has the SAME BORING /i’m so cool and sexy and relevant/ facial expressions. And they DO NOT VARY she literally looks like this with EVERYONE even in her personal selfies. Which makes me think, “why is she doing that?” Well its because shes NOT having fun, she DOES NOT care. If she did “care” as much as she did when she was on Victorious her pictures would still be like the first time you met her.

I absolutely remember the time when she had photos of her flashing that really gorgeous, cheesy smile of hers.
This new serious but sexy face makes her robotic, uncaring, and uninteresting.
But since she sits with the cool kids at lunch now everyone is willing to over look it for a chance of recognition from the great, talented (not really) Ariana Grande.
I believe this blog post, not because I’m looking to hate her (because I’m not) but because it sounds like a totally predictable incident to happen with celebs like Ariana Grande.

I had a similar experience with Britney Spears. I went to her meet and greet for the Piece of Me tour in LA. After spending $1,000 on the tickets, waiting in a lobby, going through a tour and seeing her “stuff”, and having to sit through the god awful Nicky Minaj performance, we stood in a line to meet Ms. Spears. Once we entered the room, we were told we couldn’t touch her, were handed a pre-autographed program, given a goodie-bag, and then we stood next to Brit for a picture that was later e-mailed to us. All we got was to say hello, snap a photo, and shoved off so they could move on… That was my $1,000 meet and greet with Britney Spears. I wanted to do nothing but cry. I was so bummed it was hard to enjoy the concert.

Welcome to the music business. Fans of hundreds of world famous (boy) bands pay hundreds of dollars to take a GROUP photo (as in: the band with about 20 other girls). No solo photos, no hugs, no exchange of words allowed. I know you are very upset about your daughter’s experience, but this is how it goes…

    • primalscreaming September 18, 2014 at 11:21 am #

Except that the only way to make a change is to speak up. People don’t have to accept shoddy treatment just because that treatment comes from a celebrity. If we take it like some poor sheep, the world will never know.

  114. Arianna Venti September 19, 2014 at 9:19 pm #

congrats, your family is a bunch of stalkers!

  115. Alexis September 21, 2014 at 8:42 am #

I remember when 3 years ago, a meet and greet with Ariana was FREE and you could have all the pictures you wanted. Now you have to pay $500 for a meet and greet and 1 group photo!!!!
I think Ariana should build up her fan base or be famous a little longer before she stars acting like a diva.

  116. Kimy September 21, 2014 at 7:14 pm #

Even if I was famous, I would never be rude to my fan

  117. Me September 22, 2014 at 9:52 am #

That is Ariana’s job she has to be kind and grateful for the people who have given her everything she has. Like I said it is her job and it doesn’t matter if she is having a bad because in the real world if you have a job where your check depends on costumers (in her case it would be her fans) you have to provide them with the best costumer service. I know her job better then being a cashier or something that involves costumer service but if it was “having a bad day” is no excuse for treating the people like crap you would probably just get fired. I’m not trying to be hateful I’m just stating the facts She needs to get act together and make it up to her fans

  118. The Pepsi Team September 24, 2014 at 1:56 pm #

Thanks for reaching out to us. Through this MTV Video Music Awards promotion sponsored by Pepsi, we aimed to give fans an opportunity to get even closer to an artist they love. We’re very sorry to hear your daughter didn’t receive the artist experience she expected.

    • primalscreaming September 24, 2014 at 3:35 pm #

Obviously, this response did not come from Pepsi, as it is incomplete, poorly worded, and amateurish. If PepsiCo wants to contact me, they have my home address, phone number, and email. I approved this comment for comedic purposes only.

  119. Rachel September 24, 2014 at 10:38 pm #

I believe it! This is exactly why celebrity hero worship is stupid IMO.

  120. Ella September 26, 2014 at 5:38 am #

Okay buddy so let me get something strait your calling Ariana the brat wow what a dumb mind you must have. Maybe if you were a celeb you’d understand how busy they can get. You calling her fake and icy well looks like you made that up when I saw Ariana grinning in those pics having a great time. 15 seconds!!!! I’ve been an arianator for the longest time ever and I would kill to even look at her for a brief seconds. You sound like a selfish father from a rich ass family that thinks everyone does what you expect. Any other arianator would of killed to even look at her. Just stating my opinion

  121. perrie September 26, 2014 at 6:29 am #

I think Ariana is amazing, until I have seen or experienced this type of treatment from her personally I will continue to love her.
